Notes from the build
Problems that came up on real projects, and what actually fixed them. Mostly the kind that pass every check and ship anyway.

MotionSmooth scroll kills position: sticky
Inertial scrolling transforms the page, and a transform makes every sticky column inside it stop being sticky.
Design systemsThe accent colour that only works big
The same hex that looks superb on a 56px button is unreadable on a 13px label, and design tools will not tell you.
LayoutA grid column can never be narrower than its content
The single CSS default behind most mystery horizontal overflow, and the two characters that fix it.
Next.jsScanner traffic and the error page that was not there
A routine bot sweep for /.env turned into a 100% error rate on a healthy route, twice, on two different sites.
Design systemsTypography is the brand when there is no logo
Most small brands arrive without a usable mark. The type system has to carry the identity instead.
LayoutA photograph does not fit a fixed box
Fixed thumbnail dimensions crop half of any real photo set. Ratios solve it with no measuring at all.
PracticeBuild it so the next person can change it
A site only you can edit is a dependency you sold your client, not a deliverable.
PracticeThe fastest way to lose trust is a detail you invented
Placeholder numbers have a way of surviving into production, and a reader who catches one stops believing everything else.
